Dr. Alison "Brooke" Allen, founder of NeuroSpa, has been practicing medicine for over twenty years, specializing in Neurology, Aesthetic Procedural Medicine, Clinical Research, and Psychedelic Medicine. As a physician, she combines standard, evidence-based western medical practices with holistic modalities including meditation, breathwork, aromatherapy, acupuncture, neurofeedback, nutrition counseling, individualized exercise consultation, psychotherapy, and psychedelic medicine.
Dr. Allen received her medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 2006. She completed her internal medicine year and neurology residency at the University of Colorado Denver in 2010, specializing in diagnosing and treating disorders of the nervous system including diseases and injury of the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles. Dr. Allen is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in the field of Neurology and a member of the American Academy of Neurology. Dr. Allen also owns a local clinical research practice, Mountain Neurological Research Center, supporting a team that provides cutting-edge opportunities for local patients with Alzheimer’s disease, “Pre-Clinical” Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson disease, and migraines, for over a decade.
Dr. Allen also has a robust medical aesthetics practice and is board certified by the American Academy of Procedural Medicine with a Specialty in Aesthetics. She is a Certified Laser Specialist® through Rocky Mountain Laser College and provides a variety of treatments using energy-based devices, including BBL HERO Hero, Halo, Fraxel, Moxi, Clear and Brilliant, Thermage, Morpheus8, Microneedling, UltraClear (including Laser Coring Elite), CoolSculpting, Emsculpt, Laser Hair Removal, Chemical Peels, and other cutting-edge, science-backed technology for skin care and body concerns. Dr. Allen and her team also provide medical grade skin care education, and procedures including neuromodulators, injectable hyaluronic acid fillers, biostimulator injections, Kybella, PRP and PGDF+, and PDO thread lifts and treatments. She also consults with clients on weight-loss therapy and lifestyle interventions for dementia prevention.
Finally, Dr. Allen has a psychedelic medicine practice and is a licensed clinical facilitator through Colorado's Natural Medicine Program. She obtained Ketamine Medical Provider Training and Psychedelic Assisted Therapy Training (Medical Track) through the Integrative Psychiatry Institute (IPI) in Boulder, CO. She is a member of the Psychedelic Medicine Association and American Society of Ketamine Physicians, Psychotherapists, and Practitioners (ASKP3). In the Psychedelic Clinic, Dr. Allen provides medical consultation and supports a team that provides treatment for patients considering ketamine therapy for treatment resistant depression and anxiety, and PTSD, among other complex mental health and neurological diseases. She also serves as a psychedelic clinical facilitator for psilocybin offerings through NeuroBloom. Dr. Allen is the Founder and Chair of the Roaring Fork Valley Psychedelic Peer Support Group for mental health providers, physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and all other providers of psychedelic care in the region.
In addition to her outpatient practices in Basalt and Aspen, Dr. Allen has privileges at Aspen Valley Hospital in Aspen, Colorado, and currently serves on the Medical Advisory Team for the Public Health Pandemic Response at Aspen Valley Hospital.
