What is Fraxel® DUAL Restore?

What is Fraxel® DUAL Restore?

Fraxel® DUAL RESTORE is a non-invasive (non-wounding), microscopic laser that is used to retexturize the skin, helping to stimulate collagen and elastin production, reducing pore size and minimizing sundamage.

How does it work?

Fraxel only targets a fraction (fraction, Fraxel—get it?) of the skin at a time, which is why it's also known as a fractional skin resurfacing treatment.

Am I a candidate

Most individuals are a candidate if they have premature aging, acne scars, sundamage and fine lines but it's best to have a consultation with your laser specialist first to decide if Fraxel is best for you.  Fraxel Dual Restore can be used on almost all body parts to help soften the appearance of sundamage, reduce fine lines and help to create collagen and elastin production.

During the procedure & How to prepare for the procedure

Patients will come in an hour early for before photos and topical numbing cream application.  During this time, post care will be discussed.  Everyone leaves with a kit of products to be used for the recovery time.  Luckily, this treatment is a pretty low-maintenance treatment. You'll need to stop using any product that can cause skin sensitivities a full 10 days before your treatment, along with 10 days after (that includes retinol, exfoliants, and acids, like glycolic acid or salicylic acid).

Note: If you're breaking out, your skin specialist may want to postpone until your breaktouts have calmed down.

Downtime?

There is a down time of 5-7 days for most.  Patients should expect some redness, swelling, and peeling afterward, but overall, it settles down around day 7.
